How do I start to describe the most beautiful place I have stayed in. The chef produced meals we all enjoyed and the local wine was so much better than we expected. This is a must for a return visit.

There were 33 in our group, the house did not seem over crowded. It was the holiday of a lifetime. The children took the bikes out each day, got punctures and bits fell off and the gardener fixed them after lunch so that they could go out again in the afternoon. Although the chef spoke limited English and our French is poor , he produced some truly amazing meals and of course the Loire wines!!!

I especially wanted to note to you how helpful Thierry (the gardener) was in helping us figure out how things worked. We also enjoyed our dinners cooked by Jackie (the chef); he is a marvel in doing all the setting up, cooking, serving and clearing for 15 people with great humor…even with two babies in the kitchen having their dinner whilst he is working.

All in all a great place for a family with lots for children to do, and we could close the gate and know they were around. My eldest grandson said it was like having our own private resort in France. The weather was not warm or sunny so it was great for lots of Chateaux visits.

David. Our two weeks spent at the Chateau Detilly have been positively magical. In all the years of renting villas in fabulous European destinations none can compare with our time spent here. We very much hope to be returning soon and will savor the memories for a lifetime. With appreciation!
