splendor, the common rooms at this noble property are
elaborately decorated and sumptuously furnished with
striking period pieces from the the 18th and 19th
Centuries, some of them antiques and some well-executed
reproductions.
The entry hall, with its antique
tapestries, elegant white stone staircase and crystal
chandelier suspended from three stories above, is a preview
of the classic decor that prevails throughout the common
rooms.
The three to four-meter (12-13') ceilings, walnut
paneling, fireplaces, chandeliers, solid wood doors and the
many oil paintings, mostly 19th-century portraits and
scenes of genteel country life, all contribute to an aura
of grandeur.
Entertain in the elegant grand salon; then
retire to the formal dining room for a 5-course dinner
prepared in the gourmet kitchen on a professional-level La
Cornue stove. This is the elegant life available at Chateau
de Detilly.
The chateau’s ground floor is elegant and
comfortable. Period mirrors and oil paintings adorn the
walls. Large windows and high ceilings provide an airy
atmosphere, and dramatic fireplaces set off the beautifully
appointed rooms.
There are three spacious common rooms on
the ground floor. The grand salon has walnut wood paneling
and windows on both sides for an elegant and formal event.
The formal dining room has a mahogany table that seats 16
guests. The light and airy breakfast room seats up to 24
guests and opens onto a beautiful terrace. There are three
smaller rooms that are cozy and functional: a TV room, an
office and a library. It’s easy to find the right place for
your mood among these elegant rooms.
