How To Get Here

From North America

Fly to Paris. Take the TGV to Tours (St. Pierre des Corps) and rent a car. The Chateau is 45 minutes by car from the TGV station.

From the UK

There are two ways to reach St. Pierre des Corps by train from London: through Paris or through Lille. The Paris route is quicker. We had a friend who left central London and was in Tours in less than 6 hours. She went to Gare du Nord, took the metro (with her luggage) to Gare Montparnasse. Apparently a very smooth journey.

We have had visitors who traveled from central London by train (Eurostar) to Detilly. The nearest station is Port Boulet (5 minutes by taxi). To get to Port Boulet take the TGV from Paris to St. Pierre des Corps (a suburb of Tours), change for the local train to Saumur (no need to change platforms).

Detilly is served by Ryan Air to Tours and Poitiers.

For those wishing to travel by car, the best service is from Portsmouth to Caen. The ferry takes about 6 hours, enough time for a good meal or an overnight sleep.

The road from Caen to Detilly is good, mainly divided highway and is about 3 hours of easy driving.

From Northern Europe

There is a good network of auto routes so the time required is essentially a factor of how fast and for how long one is willing to travel. We have had people visit who took about 6 hours from Germany.

The grounds at Chateau de Detilly are a little paradise. Sweeping lawns, flower gardens, fountains, statues, and lampposts reminiscent of 19th century Paris add to the old world ambiance.
